Naples today is a spectacular metropolis of bustling piazzas and waterfront promenades around the edge of the Bay of Naples. Sprawling, dynamic energy, passionate locals and timeless charm.

The Amalfi Coast on the other hand is a breathtaking stretch of coastline, in Southern Italy, high above rugged cliffs, enchanting colourful villages and shimmering turquoise waters.

We’re planning an incredible program for your week of sketching in Naples and the Amalfi Coast.  All levels welcome! Your adventure begins the moment you arrive at the Naples International Airport where you’ll be met by ImagiNapoli and transported to Culture Hotel Villa Capodimonte.  After settling in and maybe a stroll around the property, we’ll meet up for a welcome dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, Ristorante Moiariello, where you’ll get to know your hosts, your fellow students, and Erin and Milton Hill.

Never sketched before? Or maybe you’re a little intimidated about sketching ‘in public’? Erin’s simple approach will put you at ease, no prior experience required. Before you know it, you’ll be blissfully capturing your surroundings, noticing line, shape, color and shadow. Sketching mindfully with Erin will put you in a state of flow. Her teaching style is supportive, nurturing and fun, with an emphasis on the basics.

Our activities will include outings to various points of interest in and around the City of Naples and the Amalfi Coast.

In the historic city center, we’ll discover the charm of narrow alleys and open air markets.  The subjects are endless - sketch people, landmarks, food, cathedrals, street scenes…….

A majestic park of over 300 acres, the Royal Forest of Capodimonte is the former hunting grounds where King Charles of Bourbon commissioned his palace, now an art museum.  Serene gardens, walking paths and historic structures of the 18th and 19th century are situated throughout.  This park is a haven of tranquility and Neapolitan refinement reminiscent of the royalty it once served.  A lovely setting for sketching.

You’ll be treated to a pizza-making lesson where you’ll learn the art and science of the dish that was born here. 

On our outings to the Amalfi Coast you’ll be dazzled by the brilliant blue sea with charming houses and centuries-old church domes tucked into the seacliffs.  Colorful scenes and staggering beauty are everywhere you look.  Don’t forget to leave some room in your luggage for a pair of handmade sandals or maybe a handbag.  And don’t forget to leave some room for gelato!

In between lessons, you might like to keep going, sketching the panoramic view from the hotel’s rooftop terrace, or the gardens throughout the property, as you sip an aperol spritz. 

The schedule is full of amazing sights & excursions, fun activities and delicious food, and we’ve also left room for some spontaneity, shopping, relaxing and free time.
